The seminar “Dreams (the archive between poetics, politics, and the violence of history)”, looks back on the past from present aspirations. It addresses the issues of the archive through a cycle of meetings and interventions with the creation of an oral archive of proposals for historical, theoretical and poetic approaches, and the development of an associated documentary corpus.
The archival turn had little impact in France outside of feminist, gender and art studies, which in turn fed and borrowed the references and methodologies of microhistory, history from bellow, of the oral archive and the living archive, just as the analysis and militant inquiry that have accompanied several generations of struggles are often considered as not very objective.
The approach by a poetics and a politics of history linking corpuses of individual and collective memory, and following inter- and transdisciplinarities, by associating analysis and creation reopens the problem of the archive as an eminently institutional object devoid of life. It makes it possible to reflect from the margins and the movements of resistance for which a return to the past, and the opening to other futures to come, take as their starting point an inadequacy in the present. It opens up to the singular, and to critical examination where the epistemological approach can be linked to a political approach and narratives and life paths to history and collective memory.
We take up reflections on history, philosophies of the archive, and their affinities with literary writing and art, to associate analysis, situations of engagement in research, and creation as embodiment in the forms of expression that accompany it.
